A one-sided battle

Blackfire quirked an eyebrow. “You’re kidding, right?”

The frown on King Vegeta’s face showed exactly what he thought of Blackfire’s continued protests. “I’ve been on these damn patrol missions this entire month!”

“I don’t have time for this Blackfire! If you don’t want to patrol, I can easily put you on guard duty.”

“Of what?”

A sneer crossed the king’s face. “The bathrooms of course.”

Blackfire’s entire body quivered with rage. Thanks to Seta, she was almost as strong as the King himself. She wanted nothing more but to smash the saiyan in his face. But she couldn’t bring herself to it. Instead, she spun around with a final growl and exited the Royal Chambers. Her bottled up frustration needed to be released on something. Or someone. And soon.

As she exited the building itself though, the cool air of the night started to soothe her. The sun was already sinking into the horizon, casting a beautiful pallet of multiple colors. Though it soothed her anger, she still needed something to beat on. Allowing her senses to expand a bit, she could feel that someone was close. He or she was fairly powerful.

With a grunt, the teen landed on the ground, red sand thrown up from her amethyst boots. She didn’t wear traditional saiyan garb. In fact, the only way you would be able to tell that she had saiyan blood running through her body was the first class insignia on her right arm. Even her tail was missing.

As she waited, the red gem encrusted on her chest started to glow. Frowning, the teen briefly wondered whether to go to the realm of sparring, but she quickly pushed the thought aside. A real fight was always more entertaining than a fake fight.

She took a brief moment to check her surroundings and plan a strategy. She was standing in a clearing, and there were few obstacles dotting the future battlefield. A smile crossed her lips despite her sour mood. It would make it easy to keep at a range. She detested close combat.

Blackfire didn't have to wait long. A small dot on the horizon slowly grew into a shadowed figure. The teen squinted her eyes as some kid came roaring on some type of machinery, making enough noise to alert the Avalonians on their home planet of his arrival. The bi-wheel transportation device skidded to a halt, and the boy hopped off. He seemingly took no notice of the teen and headed towards a building behind her.

He shrugged some weights off and they clanked against the dirt, causing some of the red substance to cloud up from the impact.

“Hold it,” Blackfire snapped, moving to block the kid. She could hardly feel any power coming off of him. Easy prey. “You are going in there for training? I don't recall King Vegeta mentioning a little twerp like you. You need permission to see him. Or you can try to get pass me.” She narrowed her eyes dangerously. “And I don't think that's happening any time soon.”

As if on cue, a sudden bolt of lightning stabbed the sky, echoing with a loud crash. Mother nature was about to come down in all her fury. “So how bout a little test, hmm?” Blackfire asked, moving aside to walk towards the clearing. She let her back turn to the squirt as he would hardly be able to do any damage even if she let him hit. Her power suddenly sky rocketed, even though her transformation hardly showed. The only sign would be her pupils disappearing, and with her back turned, the boy wouldn't be able to tell.

Her shadow shifted violently to the left, and took a different form. As if by magic, a wolf tore itself from the ground, shaking off bits of dirt as he clawed his way to freedom. Electricity danced around his blue body, and his paws scarcely scraped the dirt as he took position in front of the kid. With a careful sigh, Komand'r released her tensed up state, and felt her power drop once more. She turned around with her arms crossed around her frame.

“Here's how this game will work,” she said carefully, her amethyst eyes never wavering from his. “This is Skoll.” The spirit beast let out a growl at the sound of his name, showing razor sharp teeth that glowed with energy. “Beat him, and I may let you pass. Until then, I'm going to catch up on some sleep.” With a yawn, the teen took up position at the building's entrance and rested her back against the door.

“Sic him.” she said, then closed her eyes.

Skoll let out a roar, and surged forward at a blinding speed. His paws thumped against the ground as he leaped up, attempting to sink his teeth into the kid's neck. With a snarl, the spirit beast used his entire body weight to attempt and pin the kid to the ground. A small opener, but only a fraction of the hound's power.

The spirit beast quickly closed the distance between him and his prey, sinking long and wicked fangs into Vaird's exposed throat. Razor sharp teeth tore into soft flesh, and the air became tainted with the scent of blood. Muscles were severed, but luckily for the boy, Skoll held back for reasons unknown. Although blood quickly flowed from his open wound and splattered against the already dark sand, but the flow as not heavy as if an artery was severed. The boy would live, but for how long?

With the half saiyan pinned to the ground and Skoll's greater weight on top of him, there would be no mistake, and hopefully, no chance of escape or any such shenanigans. The spirit beast leaned in close until his muzzle was only a foot away from his prey. “You fool,” he snarled out telepathically. “You think you stand a chance here?” The wolf's maw opened, and electricity danced around inside of his mouth. “I think not!”

With those final words, he lunged forward, attempting to clamp his jaws around the poor sap's face. His canines lunged to the boy's eyes. If they managed to hit, it would spell doom for the boy's vision. At the same time, he released his grip on the human with one paw, and attempted to score a vicious slash along Vaird's side. Electricity blasted around as he struck, proving just how powerful the wolf really was.

“Still too slow!” King Vegeta barked as he placed a gloved hand on Blackfire's wrist, easily pushing away the blue orb that radiated in her palm. The teen cursed aloud as she was thrown off balance by the sudden diversion. The royal guards stood outside, their faces almost chiseled out of stone. Though the heated skirmish between master and pupil raged on, their faces showed no emotion.

Dust kicked up as the teen tumbled to the ground, picking herself up with a timed handspring. A purple beam exploded out from her fingertips, but the king merely moved his head to the side, letting the attack explode harmlessly behind him. His red cape swirled up from the speedy beam.

“You're better than this, Blackfire!” Vegeta roared, surging forward once more. “SHOW ME!”

Blood splattered on the ground as Skoll released his terrifying grip on the boy's throat and lunged for his unprotected face. There was only one word to describe the next attack, and that word was overkill. Blood soaked fangs sank into Vaird's unprotected face, slashing into the half saiyan's eyes. But that wasn't even the worst part. The male's small body convulsed violently as ten thousand volts of electricity coursed through his body, with the power to shut down his entire nervous system and burn his very flesh.

It was a horrifying one-sided battle with Skoll laying down terrible, terrible damage on Vaird. Just to add insult to injury, Skoll raised a massive paw and scored his claws down the hybrid's side. Blood squirted out of this new wound and the spirit beast let out a small growl of satisfaction, leaping backwards to let the wounded saiyan up. Though Skoll was a vicious ally in any battle, he still was fair. Vaird would have a chance to strike back if he could even get up after the vicious assault.

Skoll's claws scored gouges in the red dirt as he paced around, his beady and black eyes never wavering from his foe. Still, Vaird did not stir. Skoll sat down on his haunches and let out a howl. His work was done. Wait. Did Vaird's chest just rise? It did. As Skoll watched, he could see the faint rise and fall of the half saiyan's chest as he sucked in air, proof that he was still alive.

“Not bad, kid,” Skoll lashed out mentally. “Most wouldn't be able to stand after an assault like that. You're tough, I'll give you that much. Just don't let it get to your head, you sorry excuse for a fighter!” His last words were almost spat out as a curse. Once again, the dog-like spawn rushed forward. There would be no more waiting. No mercy would be shown to the weak. It was kill or be killed, and Vaird would soon learn that painful lesson.

The spirit's beast's paws skimmed the ground and his jaws clamped down towards the boy's right leg. Though it wouldn't be enough to sever any arteries, it would be enough to crush the bone underneath his soft flesh. Using his weight, Skoll attempted to toss him into the air like a rag doll, then leaped upward to slam his skull into the sap's spine.

Once again, Blackfire rose with a growl of frustration. No matter what she did, King Vegeta seemed to have the edge on her. She padded forward, and a hint of a yellow aura flared around her, showing her anger. The king quirked an eyebrow, but rushed forward, aiming a fierce hammer blow to the top of the teen's skull.

The girl's hair stood on end and she blocked the blow, emitting a powerful shake as she did. Vegeta's eyes widened as she looked up, meeting his ebony eyes with her pupiless violet eyes.

“You,” he whispered, but was unable to finish his sentence as Blackfire lurched forward, slamming a heavy fist into the king's gut. He grimaced, and was sent backward. Now Blackfire was on the offense, connecting blow after blow until...

Suddenly a gloved hand tugged at her last attack, sending it off to the side. Another gloved fist landed heavily on the bottom of her chin, causing Blackfire to crash through several walls. The pain was almost unbearable, and as the teen tried to breath, a sharp pain in her chest caused her to grunt. It felt like a rib or two were broken.

A small tapping sound caused her to look up and see King Vegeta standing in front of her, a yellow aura flaring about his own body. “You can use the giji transformation as well,” he rasped. Was that fear in his eyes?

“I remember somebody else being able to achieve a transformation so soon,” he muttered darkly.

Blackfire awoke to the sound of a thump and saw that VairD had crumpled to the ground in a heap of flesh. Skoll landed on the ground as well and slowly stalked to the hybrid, the intent to kill in his intelligent eyes. The teen let out a yawn and got up from her position.

“Wait,” she ordered and the wolf looked at her oddly. However, the spirit beast backed off obediently. Blackfire inspected the heavily wounded boy. “Jeeze,” she commented. “I told you to fight him, not mutilate.”

“Yes, well he didn't even put up a fight. You sure he wasn't just a civilian?”

“Quite. Look at his garb. That's training clothes.”

“Fair enough,” Skoll admitted and lifted a leg to scratch vigorously behind one ear. “What are you going to do with him?”

Blackfire didn't respond, and instead kicked the boy over and reached into his pocket. There was a small bag filled with zeni. A smile crossed her face, but her hand brushed against something else. She retrieved a small sun-shaped rock and frowned at it.

“What is that?” Skoll asked and padded over, giving the artifact a curious sniff.

“I don't know,” Blackfire admitted with a slight exhale. “Whatever it is, it holds a lot of power. Can you feel it?”

Once again Skoll sniffed at the shard and narrowed his ebony eyes. “You're right. So are we done here?”

“Yes,” Blackfire nodded. “We're done. Let's go. I believe King Vegeta wants me to finish my rounds.”
